Burning Man 2006

Mondo Spider plays on fears of technological intervention in the natural world and the potential for horrible consequence. Known for being a stealthy, calculated, and deadly predator, the spider has become a recognized symbol of fear. While many people cower in the presence of even the smallest spiders, this mechanical spider is a large drivable kinetic sculpture of anxiety. As this mechanical walking machine roams it strikes fear into the hearts of observers and unsuspecting prey.
